Camera- Buy or dont buy

I went to the PC Fair today with ChiewVien, May Hwa, Ren Yi, Alex, jo lene, Marjie and Sophia.
The one thing to remember about the PC Fair is that, ones you enter the hall, you need to take the long route to exit. You are not allowed to exit the same way you came in. It happened to mar jie, alex, sophia and I today. We needed a toilet, and the guard told us the nearest toilet was inside the hall. Therefore, we went in, but another guard didn't allow us to go out the same way we came in. Hence, we had to make a huge round  while having to pass a barrier 'like the Great Wall Of China' of promoters wearing yellow, orange and black shirts aka Digi, Streamyx and P1 Wimax. Geez, don't ever want to go through that again!

We bagan our 'expedition' from the 3rd floor of the KL Convention Centre.
I was looking for a camera. I had Panasonic Lumix ZR3 in mind.

At Hall 1: RM1199 + 2x8GB memory card + 1 memory card holder + a camera case.
*I called my dad to tell him I've found the camera I want*

At Hall 2: RM1180 + 2x8GB Memory card + a camera case

At Hall 3: RM1130 + 1x 8GB memory card + camera case

And there were a couple of promoters asking me, "Why am I looking for the ZR3 when ZR1 is almost similar and cheaper"
ZR1 cost Rm799 but it has lesser megapixels than ZR3.

*Luckily my dad wasn't coming to the PC Fair so early*

With the end of me browsing through in the PC Fair, the bunch of us walked to Pavillion for lunch.
We ate at The Loaf, which was good as always.

After lunch, we headed to Low Yat.

At Low Yat, May Hwa bought her oh-so-perfectly-gorgeous Canon 550D for a good price!
While I asked the same guy who sold the dslr to may hwa, how much does the ZR3 cost = Rm1130 + 1x8GB memory card + camera case

Therefore, I set my mind to get the camera from Low Yat instead of the PC Fair.
*Called dad to come to Low Yat instead of PC Fair*

Then, my friends and I headed to Sungei Wang.
When my parents arrived at Sungei Wang, mum suggested to check out the camera shop there which has a helpful, dedicated photographer-salesman.

ZR3 = Rm1099 + 1x 8GB memory card + camera case
*ah so glad again dad didnt go to Low Yat to buy*

At the shop, dad started asking about the GF1 camera.
Then the photographer starts yapping and showing and describing the brilliancy of the GF1, even comparing it with the 550D and the ZR3.

After I think about 20 minutes, dad left me with the choice of what camera I want.

But then the photographer recommended the TZ10 instead of the ZR3.

Aiyoyo.. my head really hurt at that time.

I couldn't decide then and there because I had to think it through.
So, dad said to give me time to think.

Had McD ice cream and then head to T. Bowl for dinner with friends.

I still couldnt decide which camera I wanted.

So, i finally decided not to get it today.

Head back to Pavillion, and dad's advice was to get the GF1 first. Mum also agreed XD
I'm like, ok ok.. anything will do....

Suffice to say, GF1 coming home with me tmr!

Lets see how i live with a HUGE camera...............

Drained

Lately, I've been getting up early and going to uni at 7am.
Its sort of like a 'building momentum' for the coming semester.
But, there has been one side effect: Tiredness

Waking up at 5.30am leaves me drained by 4pm.
When it's almost 4pm, my brain is like completely shut down, I can still talk, but it will be nonsense.
The words that come out from my mouth, does not tally with what I actually wanna say in my mind.
Basically, 4pm = brain dead... and when I close my eyes, I can realllly just fall asleep.

I just need a 15 minute nap at 4pm to rejuvenate.... But, the past few days does not allow myself that  much needed luxury, I have been out from dawn to dusk!

This got me thinking about how I'm going to survive the coming sem. One solution: Nap time in the library..

What I know is that I'm feeling really drained. I aced my insomnia project, so I feel like a pro at it, trying to diagnose the type i'm currently having...  ;)
I should not wake up so early tmr...
and I should really go to bed by 9.30pm

Sunday

Woah.. it's actually pretty boring on a weekend.
I turned on my netbook a dozen times today just because I'm feeling terribly bored.
Emails checked. Blogs read. News read. Messages checked.
BOREDOM on a Sunday!

Maybe it is the anticipation of Monday.
I have a long list of things to do beginnning Monday.
No one works on a Sunday that's why I'm like at a dead-end where everything has to be put on hold till Monday.

In addition, the weather was not being nice to me today.
I wanted to swim, but it rained.
I was watching tv halfway, but it rained.
I even took an afternoon nap which gave me a headache after I woke up.

I resorted to daydreaming....
and I ended up daydreaming of the super wonderful PRPs who helped me during my hospital attachments.

dang.. I think i'm going nuts.

Browsing

With the lost of the camera, I definitely need a new one.
I spent three hours reading review after reviews....
and I've narrowed down my choices to three cameras.

But, there's also
  • the price factor;
  • and how it really looks in real life- because pictures paint a thousand words & may be deceiving to ones eye!
I'm also trying to try out another brand. I've had a Kodak and Canon. I've also used a Nikon.
Thus far, the reviews I read still brings me back to Canon.

I'll be going to Sungei Wang on this Monday evening to do a little hands-on browsing before the PC fair on the coming Saturday.

Weekly update

  • Attachment at HUKM started on Monday till Thursday, 8am till 5pm
  • Dep: Inpatient, Outpatient counselling, Outpatient, Satellite Pharmacy, Kedai Farmasi, Drug information, Clinical, and TPN/CDR  -- A whole lot of stuff to experience.
  • 32 hours was enough for me, the newbie. My legs were aching and I literally felt like raising the white flag.
  • Anyway, I survived, and I'm so tempted to go for another attachment next week. But, next week will be my final week of sem break and I feel like I have a lot of other things to settle, organize and finish..
  • Also, I feel like I need to recharge my batteries coz I need all the energy to survive the coming sem!
REASON for not blogging lately: *No, i wasnt too preoccupied with attachment till i didnt have the time to blog.
  1. My Canon is missing since Monday because my sister lost it.
  2. I was practically in depression mode since monday.
  3. It was really heartbreaking.
  4. It felt like my life was over.
  5. Two years of taking care of it like it was precious gold, and poof.. GONE!
  6. Whatmore, i told my sis not to take it for I said, "Surely u will lose it!"
  7. Heartache: True enough, she lost it.
  8. I still feel sad whenever I think  about it eventhough I can't do anything about it.
  9. I bought it with my own money. I took 3 months to think n ponder if i really wanted to buy it. I took 2 years to find the perfect pouch for it. I took another month to work to buy the memory card.
  10. SAD:(
  11. Electronic gadgets are something I've always wanted to buy with my own hard-earned money. My netbook, my cellphone n my camera were all my own money....
  12. Damn.... I need to get over this lost..... Some say its just a camera.. But I guess they havent lost something they've worked so hard to get and worth so much.
I strive for perfection n this type of imperfection irks me....

Chilli's

Before Earth Hour 2010, my friends and I had Chilli's  at Midvalley for dinner.
As usual, I ordered chicken quesadillas which was good.
However, Eric's Montessarie Chicken and Morgan's fish dish didn't look like Chilli's standard that day. I did rave about Chilli's previously.

I shared the quessadillas with Terri.
The main purpose of this post is to post up this group pic which I like :)

The day before, I also had lunch at Chilli's with mum. The best and most worth it salad can be found in Chilli's. It was a meal fit for two.
