Father's Day 2012

Father's day always falls on the third Sunday of June. The kids know it. But, fathers (or maybe only my father) probably don't know it. So, on the SECOND Sunday of June, one of my dad''s friend wished him Happy Father's Day..... OBVIOUSLY my dad felt disappointed that 'his friend' wished him but NONE of his kids did! I was in Langkawi at that time and I received a text from my mum about dad's displeasure. This kind of thing pisses me off!

Anyway, OBVIOUSLY my siblings and I WILL do something for OUR father on Father's Day. My brother returned from Penang. I bought a shirt for dad in Langkawi as a present. My younger sister was in charge of making the Father's Day card.

We planned a dinner at home instead of going out for one. We celebrated on a Saturday since my brother had to leave to Penang again on Sunday evening. I invited my grandfather and aunty for the celebration. That night, I found out from my aunt that my grandma's birthday was on 12th April, my older sister's birthday was on 12th May, and my grandpa's birthday was on 12th June! I didn't know my grandparent's birthday for the past 20 years or so.

This post is longer than usual because I am using my laptop to blog instead of the iphone. Since coming back to KL, my laptop refuses to work with Unifi connections. Hence, the lack of my existence in Skype, msn, replying emails...etc. Using the Iphone to blog can be a pain at times because the photos uploaded are not allowed to be in between paragraphs. Only at the bottom of the post. Furthermore, the chances of a typo is higher.

Anyway, back to the Father's Day celebration, the menu were as below:

APPETIZER:
Two types of spring rolls and my brother's special sauce.

For appetizers, we had samosa spring rolls and crabstick cream cheese spring rolls. The sauce was a last minute concoction by my brother, which was brilliantly delicious :)

MAIN COURSE:
Tom Yam seafood - crab, prawns, fishball

Mummy's beef rendang

DESSERT:
Dessert was two types of cheesecake. Daddy gets the heart shaped cotton cheese cake, while grandpa gets the rich cream cheese filled cake.

The food looked little but it was actually very filling and satisfying. Nothing beats homecooked meals :)

Grandpa had a cake too because we decided to have a belated birthday celebration for him.
Grandpa is 75 years old now!!

It was my first try writing words with melted chocolate onto the cheesecakes.

At the end of the night, dad, gx, ty and hazel played ginrummy. Grandpa left early because he wanted to go home to watch football, while my aunty had another function to go to. I was pretty tired.

Lekker Ding's Christmas party

After coming home from Singapore, I attended a Lekker Ding's Christmas Party which was organised by mum.

Lekker Ding is a club created among a group of lady friends who love cooking. So, everytime they have a Lekka Ding's meet up, each member of the group comes up with a dish of their own and they all have a taste of variety of food prepared. Basically, from what I see, the two main requirements to join the club is that you must be female and know how to cook.

The Christmas party was a success. It was held at aunt Julie's gorgeous house.

The food was obviously delicious.

The people at the party were awesome. We started off with an ice breaking session, where we had to put an adjective in front of our name and everyone had to remember each person's name and adjective. There were Cheerful Cheng, Rosy Rose, Cheeky Che, Hillarious Hazel, Kinky K n etc...

Then after dinner, we had the second ice breaking session. The ladies and guys were divided into two groups. A dark blue cloth separated the both genders. One person from each group will sit and face the blue cloth, and when the blue cloth is dropped, the person will have to say out the other group's member's name as fast as they can. The fastest person wins.

Heh.. it was really funny as when the blue cloth falls, some people started stammering, stuttering, or looking shocked, trying to recall the adjective and names of th eperson in front if them.

That game really brought out a lot of laughter and definitely made everyone remember the names of everybody else. Suffice to say, it broke the ice! ;)

After the game, everyoen gathered to sing Christmas songs and there was a poem reading and story telling too...

Not forgetting, while everyone were still eating, GX, Hazel and I played with a baby(i forgot his name).. He was so cute.

We played with some colourful litted balls too..

Mooncake festival

I was told that I was born somewhere around mooncake festival. But, after all these years, I've never bothered to know what Mooncake Festival was all about. I love eating mooncakes, and going out to buy it to eat was all that mattered to me during the festival.

Now I know the festival has something to do with the lady in the moon.

It was because of the mooncake celebration i had to know the meaning of the festival. This year was the first time so many people asked me, "What is mooncake festival?"

FOOOD at the party was AWESOME!!

Mutton curry.. with the right amount of spiciness, it activates the saliva glands when the curry touches the tongue. The mutton was tender and cooked to perfection.

Roast pork! It was salty, fatty, crunchy and chewy.....;p

Duck! DUCK! There was duck there! Awesome! I've tasted better ducks but it was still good :)

Fried ribs...

Spicy steamed fish.. We had two fishes. Both were equally yummy. Both were steamed to perfection. The meat did not stick to the fish bone. The soft texture of the fish when eaten is engraved in my memory forever :)

Steamed fish

Sambal shrimp.

Lastly,
Ureshii Shrimp! It is something I crave for almost everyday. It is lightly battered shrimp with oatmeal mix and it has a buttery fragrant which tantalizes the nostrils, making me want more eventhough I've already had tons of it.

At the end of the night, people were asking, where's the mooncake?

LOL......

The mooncakes mysteriously vanished from the kitchen.

Ah well.....
A party with scrumptious food and great company made the party a success.

I was having my exams the next day so it wasn't a huge celebration. We had dinner at Overseas Restaurant in Bukit Bintang with big ko, granpa, and uncle Raymond. Uncle Raymond's wife and kid was suppose to come too but they did not.. Hence, we had to ta pao most of the food from the nine course meal that we had..

The dessert was something different. It was a coconut with longan and something sweet inside. It was served hot. There was also fried yam with red bean inside as dessert.
We sang the birthday song, had cake and went home..

Thanksgiving Day has the ended. It's another celebration which is not common among the Malaysians except the Christians. Buying a turkey is expensive here. I remember in Richmond last year, small ko cooked the turkey. Was I with her when she bought the turkey? I don't remember. It was a holiday. We had lunch with all the Osaka ppl in Super King Buffet while the turkey was left in the oven to be cooked. It' s too bad it did not cross my mind to snap any photos on that day. Now I'm sitting here regretting it.

This is Super King Buffet. Where scrumptious delicacies are found. Well, at least some of the food are yummy. The first time I went there, I was impressed at how spacious the restaurant was and amazed at the variety of food served. But, a book should not be judged by its cover. First thing I tried was the dim sum as I'm a dim sum lover back here in KL. Sadly, the dim sum at the buffet was not that impressive. Maybe I already had it in my mind that dim sum standard was always great overseas. But, I've tasted better dim sum elsewhere. Then, there were other food like pork, chicken, shrimps and fish which were cooked the chinese style. Boleh tahan lah.. Darn it.. I have no photos of the food I ate there. There was a japanese food section too. Yucky sushi. The best part was the desset. Obviously no restaurants can go wrong when serving fruits and ice cream:)

For the months I've stayed in Richmond, I've been to Super King Buffet four times. First time was tdurng the first weekend I was there. The second was during Thanksgiving. The third was during small ko's birthday. And the last was during another weekend.

THANKS A BUNCH, U GUYS FOR BRINGING ME THERE! hugz~~

I'm current on my semester break. The rainy season is here. Thunderstorms every single day preventing me from watching tv and going swimming. So, I'm on the internet most fo the time playing games or chatting.

Small ko's birthday; 20th march 2006

Image hosting by Photobucket

We gave a massage chair as a birthday present to small ko. I tried hard to make it a surprise. But the secret sort of leaked out and it was hard to be kept a secret as the chair was darn heavy, and huge hence hard to hide:)
