I was reading a friend's blog n she wrote this for her brother. I think most people can relate to this....
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
You know who you are.
I can’t get hold of you on Facebook, MSN, Email cause you’ve blocked me.
Assuming you’re still reading my blog, I might as well put it here cause that’s the only way that I can talk to you.
At your age, I know it’s tough to live life according to your own ways.
You believe that everything you do is right. I won’t deny that. I’ve had my fair share of discontent with people who disagree with my way of doing things.
But trust my words,
Once you’re much older, you’ll come to realized that all they had done for you is only for your own good.
Now you think that all they’re trying to do is to go against you in everything you do.
True enough. They don’t understand what’s going on in your head.
They don’t know what you are thinking because you never tell them anything.
All you did and done only results in negative actions from them.
Please don’t blame them. They’re only there to guide you… whether the harshest or gentlest way possible.
If your mother tells you not to do something, there must be a reason why you shouldn’t do it.
If your dad tells you to do something, there must be a reason why you should do it.
If you feel that what they’re telling you to do or not to do is wrong, ask them nicely Why and they will give you an answer.
You can never let them see things in your eyes because they’re not going through what you’re going through.
At the age of 15,
You think you know what you want in life but in reality, you don’t.
Heck,
I don’t even know what I want in life until lately.
It is only when I had to go through many potholes in my road to know how to avoid them carefully.
Trust me,
you’re just starting to learn the many interesting things in life and you want to try them all.
At 15,
You only want to do things that are cool, hip, and up-to-date because you want to satisfy that image in your mind.
Don’t worry. I was at your place too. I only wanted the best things in life and clearly, the best things in life are not free.
I had to endure criticisms from everybody and that made me dislike everything they say about me.
In fact, I just wanted to prove them wrong.
But as I grew older, I realized that everything they had said before, was true.
And I learned it, the hard way.
My dear brother,
All I can say to you is only things that will guide you in your life.
Not telling you what to do or not to do.
5 years from now, you are going to look back and regret all the things you said or did to your parents.
20 years from now, you’re gonna wish that you could turn back time and take back everything that you said or did that hurt the people who loved you.
40 years from now, you’re gonna regret for not telling your parents how much you loved them and you never meant to hurt them.
As children, we have a duty to our parents.
They had given us so much, and took nothing from us.
At 15,
you can only think what is taken away from you and what is not given to you.
If you don’t believe me, ask them,
What have you given to them?
At 15,
All you need to do is be a good son and do well in school.
Obey your parents and people older than you.
It’s not hard isn’t it?
At 22,
I have to think about how am I gonna do well school?
How am I gonna get a job?
How am I gonna pay for Kathleen’s and your education?
How am I gonna make sure that our parents will retire comfortably?
How am I gonna support my living for the next 20,30,50 years because I cannot depend on parents to support me anymore.
Heck, if I can pay for my own school now, I would.
But I can’t.
I don’t make 10’s of thousands of dollars to pay for my education.
My father does.
Your father does.
If our father has the same attitude that you have, he wouldn’t be thinking of how is he going to put his children through school so that they can live a comfortable life after.
If our father has the same mentality that you have, he would be spending money on himself instead of putting food on the table, a roof over your head and clothes to protect your body.
And your mother … my mother.
She had to endure the pain and suffering of child birth.
Let alone, a surgery that scarred her body so that she can give life to you.
Ask her,
Is it more painful to give birth to you or to bring you up?
Ask her,
Did it hurt when you answer her rudely?
Did it hurt when she shed a tear because you wouldn’t listen?
Did it hurt when you turned your back on her and say all the mean things that only God knows?
I am telling you this because I care.
Not because I want to embarrass you.
Or I want to put you down.
Or I look down on you.
You are my brother.
We share the same blood.
NO doubt we have had our differences in the past.
I can only regret the past because I cannot undo the past.
So I want to make it up for the present and the future.
You wouldn’t let me into your life … I understand that.
why would you anyway?
I am not there.
I can’t see what you’re doing.
I can’t tell you anything because I don’t know anything.
And the reason why I don’t know anything is because you don’t tell me anything at all.
We tell you things because we don’t want you to go down the wrong path.
If you think that being a DJ is awesome and making RM1000 is great, go ask how many people wanna be a DJ and was successful at it?
If partying and fucking random chicks everyday is great, ask those people who had party all their life and at 30, they don’t know what the fuck is going on with their life.
they have NOTHING going on for them except being someone’s lap dog.
When I look at them, I lose all respect because I’ve held my respect too long for the wrong things I see in them.
From the outside, yes, they look like they it all.
The car, the girl, the gadgets.
What have they achieved?
Yeah, tons of unpaid bills.
At 15,
All you need to do is just finish your secondary school and you don’t even need to think about when the next time you’re gonna have a decent meal.
If money is such a concern for you,
During the holidays, go work some part-time job.
Since you’ll be making money, you might as well pay for the food and your room in the house since you’re gonna be that calculative.
Make sure you don’t ask any money from your parents because it just means that you’re still relying on their support.
If you don’t have enough money, try asking money from your friends. See how willing they are to lend you the money you need.
And then tell me, was it fun?
Was it worth working that measly RM 5 per hour job?
WE all don’t want you to work that sort of jobs and that’s why we tell you to study hard so you can get into a good school and a good job after.
But you just wouldn’t listen.
So Jarrel,
I’ve said my two-cents.
It is all up to you.
All I do now hope that you eventually come around and realized we’re only here to take care of you and hope for the best for you.
the rest is your responsibility.
I love you, no matter how smelly you are.
I never said it to your face cause it’s just weird to do it but I’m doing it here.
Love the people around you cause they’re the only ones who truly care about you.
Luv,
Your obnoxious sister
