Seattle trip (Day 1)

I am finally in Seattle!

I woke up at 4.00am and caught the 6.03am flight from Richmond Airport to Detroit Airport.

Catching the early morning flight and booking the window seats for my flight was the best thing. As the plane took off from the Richmond's runway, the sun was rising, the sky was a gorgeous spread of orange, and the plane was at one point parallel to the orange spread. It was a sight to behold.

It was an hour flight to Detroit's Airport. The airport was amazing. There was a stretch when I had to use the walkalator to get to Gate A and there were lights blinking to the beat of the music playing. It was a pretty cool sight. The walkalator was divided to two-one for standing and the other for walking. I stood and took picture of the lovely sight. There were also a number of fast food shops in the terminal. The washroom was nice too and comparable to Changi's airport.

From Detroit Airport I flew to Seattle's Airport. At one point during the journey, I looked out the window and saw clean white snow on mountains covering the trees. It got me thinking if Seattle was snowing already.

I arrived at Seattle at 11.30am, met up with GL and Cory. It has been awhile since I saw GL and so it was weird calling her 'jie jie'. The weather in Seattle has been marvellous since I arrived. It rained a little but did not rained at all when we were touring around downtown.

We stayed at downtown, Executive Hotel. The hotel was pretty decent. Clean, two queen sized beds, a tv, and nice hot water to shower in ;p

After checking in and settling down, we headed to Pike Market Place. There was a wet market there which sold fresh looking seafood like lobsters, shrimps and huge crabs.
There was also the famous fishmongers who threw fish and sang while manning their stall.

We had lunch at Emmett Watson's Oyster Bar. It's cheap but nothing impressive. I would say Manhattan's Fish Market tasted much better than the bar. We had Captains Basket which consisted of fried seafood like shrimp, oysters, fish and fries. We also had clam chowder, which was pretty good, and cioppino, which I don't recommend as it tasted too fishy and herbal.

After lunch we bought fruits and cheese cake truffles.

In downtown, we shopped at Chef's Kitchen and I bought a couple packs of creative was candles and pancake moulds. Then we went to Sephora, a cosmetics haven! Sephora is the place where we can find Stila, Bobby Brown and other famous brands, all in one building!! It was definitely eye-boggling and we would've bought some stuff but the queue to pay was too long. We'll be back tomorrow:)

We also took pictures at a manmade falls, and went to See's Chocolate shop.

Cory and GL are sleeping now as they had a very early start driving from Vancouver to Seattle.

We'll be having duck in Chinatown for dinner later :) Yum yum
