Winter in Strathclyde land

After enjoying the first snowfall at midnight, the snow-filled surroundings when the sun rised enticed many to come out and play.

The plan was to take pictures in the snow, go to places further than James Blyth Court. Unbeknown to us, a light snowfall the night before means icy pathways and roads the following day. Once we stepped out our front door, the walkway was entirely covered with ice, hence, giving us no choice but to brave ourselves to walk on it. The slip-proof Aldi shoe was a definite heaven sent! I should also add that buying a thermal outdoor pants (also from Aldi) does wonders too to keep me warm.

So, the plan to go far was aborted. We settled for pictures within the campus surroundings.

Gloves were essential. Eg: Just in case we decide to make a snowman or snowmen aka play with snow ;)

We built three mini snowmen. It felt like being in a beach building sandcastles.

After the snowmen project, we headed to the garden near the Village office for a couple of scenic shots.

One thing I deduced from all this was the need for a TRIPOD.

I left my brand new tripod back home in Malaysia.

Snow Xcitement!

So the snow finally came to Glasgow. Light snow at around 11.30pm.

Then heavier at the strike of midnight.
From my window, I saw beautiful white, snow covered roofs and backyards.

Everyone was pretty excited to be outside in the snow. I received a phone call and went out without wearing my gloves. Gotta get used to wearing it now. Almost forgot to wear my jacket too ;)

Mini snowball fights ensued and photos photos photos.... The adrenaline rush, I think, made most of us forgot it was midnight XD Making mini snowballs without gloves wasn't a good idea either....

I am also happy to say that the slip proof shoe I bought from Aldi worked its magic on the snow.

If you don't already know, being outside when the snow is falling is like standing in the rain. You get drenched! :P

Hello, earrrrly Winter!

Excited!

I see Scots using 'wee' as a word. i dunno what that means....

Scots say 'Cheerio' instead of 'Goodbye' and 'Cheers' instead of 'Thank you'.

Travel bug

I'm getting more familiar with the map of this part of the world.
I can't wait to fly!

BUT...
Wrap Up! Early Winter Snowfall Forecast
  • Expect snowfall everywhere in UK this weekend
  • expected to be the worst snowfall
  • temperature at Northern Scotland dips to negative 9 degrees.
  • Northeast Scotland expected to have at least 8 inches of snow.
  • Cold weather means FROST and ICY conditions widespread!!
It is ok to have freezing cold temperatures now till december... Hopefully it does not get worse in January when I am having exams....

Do I really need to get fisherman boots?!

Blog hopping.
Found this:
"Never point out your weaknesses to anyone.
Never show that you have a weak side.
Because people will use that against you.
Always be proud of everything you have and hold your head up high."

Sadly, the person who said this was just in her twenties when she passed away. But boy, was she right!

Buckling up tight

Stressed up over a test tomorrow..
Eventhough the topics have been narrowed down to either Schizoprenia or Anaesthetics, the whole load to fit into my brain took (and still is taking) a load of time.

Need a change immediately due to the test marathons....

Two weeks enough for the next hurdle? *Prays*

PP3 lab

While waiting to enter the dispensary, a loud drilling which sounded like it came from the floor above us made me go, "I feel like we are going to cave in."

When everyone settled down in the dispensary, the sound of the drilling was still ongoing. Then, the lecturer asked the class, "Since there is too much noise, I give you a choice- Either you finish your pp3 labs at home and hand it in or we continue the class. Can I see a show of hands of those who would not want to stay in the lab today?"
Some ppl raised their hands...
"To those who want to continue todays lab raise your hand." Some ppl did raise their hands too....

Fortunately the lecturers were quick thinking ppl and they came up with a solution where instead of 30 minutes per station, we sped it up to 20minutes per station, and no Script Tutor. Music to my ears, I must say...

So, lab was very spontaneous, no long waits, lecturers were hyped up on getting everything done fast. I guess its because they had to bear with the drilling the entire day since their rooms were just next door.
Everyone's mood was good. The best part was loads of information was shared, I learnt a lot and we ended much earlier :)

So cold.... Shivered while walking back home..

Indulgence

Spent the afternoon having a project discussion. The group has a fair mix of people which was nice. Last week three others and I did the presentation. So, this time, another four was chosen by drawing lots. It was amusing to watch the faces of the people who found out they were going to be presenting next week ;P

After the discussion, I headed to the city for a little shopping with ChiewVien and KaiXin. We went to Sports Direct, JJB and JD at Sauciehall. Then headed to JJB and Sports Direct at Argyle St. I browsed and tried on stuff since the first stop, but ended up buying clothes from the Sports Direct at Argyle St only. Last stop was Aldi for groceries. In my opinion, the Sports Direct at Argylle is more organised and at least their changing rooms has a hook to hang clothes unlike the ones at Sauciehall.
Weather was good.... Company was good...
There were too many attractive sales today at the stores.....

What I bought from Aldi?

Indulgence indeed! :)

Lifes like that

I am currently in the 7th week of lectures. Monday and Tuesday lectures passed with a blink of an eye. Sitting here, I am trying to remember what I learnt. Sadly, it is taking more than 5 minutes for me to recall. How weird is that that time feels like it is moving really fast here....

I was just wondering: Do I have OCD?
I cannot stand the sight of the dining table left unwiped, filled with things...
I cannot stand that there are splats inside the microwave and it is not wiped.
I cannot stand empty toilet rolls in the toilet.
I cannot stand things put at places where they don't belong.

I feel like I am becoming my mother. The numerous times she yells at me since like forever for not doing it at home. But, hey, we have a maid at home :/ No maids here for hire.....
My mum used to tell me, "It is embarassing to bring ppl over to an untidy house."
Yes, mum. I had a taste of that here.

On the other hand, I was brought up this way, while other people were taught differently and the house belongs to everyone. Can the amount of dirtyness be compromised?

On the brighter side, I might have ended up living with people who smoke, leave their ciggarette buds, ash trays lying everywhere, marijuana filling up the air, beer bottles strewn everywhere, the bad whiff of alcohol along the corridors, parties everynight, and unsightly wet, stinky, icky, worm infested toilets.

On another note, my Scottish buddies are nice people. I'm learning much more as I hang around them more.
Lesson to learn: Nobody speaks to anyone who doesn't speak to anybody. I don't speak to anyone I dislike.

There is a phase in life. I have passed that phase and I am moving on. Adapting and not sticking with the norm.

It is so cold that i wore my winter jacket the entire day at home.

Time to get ski pants???!!!

I was curious to know when it will snow or turn icy after I checked that it will be back to ZERO degrees on Saturday night.
Googling led me to this site: http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/photo-gallery/heavy-snow-hits-glasgow-1.993877 The site shows a number of pictures of Glasgow when it snowed in 2009. I am Not looking forward to being in the same situation as Picture no. 2 and Pic no. 11.....

What is terrifying is that the forecast for tmr afternoon's wind speed will be 42kmph.... STRONG!
