I broke my promise to blog 10 days consecutively :(
I've been pretty busy from morning till night that blogging or msn does not appeal to me because I'm just too tired...
I'm leaving to Langkawi Island in 6 hours... n I haven't even blogged about my Langkawi Island trip which I went with my friends two months ago ;)

OUT....

Meet up @ Midvalley

Went out with a bunch of friends today.
Lunch at Zanmai.
Talked.
Walked.
Took pictures of and with christmas decos in the mall.
Dessert at Jonker Street.
Friends went home.
Watched Avatar.
Dinner at Zanmai.

A bad hair day is when you don't want to be in the pictures that much and whipping out the camera from the bag feels troublesome XD

It is Christmas Time

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!!

Christmas is not something my family celebrate. But I did have a great Christmas time twice in USA :)

On the day before my uni's Christmas break began, a couple of my friends brought Santa hats to uni. Tons of pictures were taken with the famous Santa hats and some even wore red for that day!

One surprise was when ZiFen gave me a christmas present. It was a homemade bookmark with a yellow bee wooden paper clip, and a written message behind the bookmark. Thanks, ZiFen!

Suffice to say, the Christmas spirit was in all of us thanks to Santa's hat and great friends =D

Serai Satay Bar@ Pavillion, KL

I've been meaning to write about Serai Satay Bar for quite awhile.

I stumbled upon this shop by accident. It was located right next to Food Republic, the food court, on the Mercato supermarket side.
I think it has been opened since December 2008, which was one year already. But I've only patronized Serai Satay three times.

I remember, the first time I set foot at the shop, a malay lady was standing in the queue in front of me.
I asked, "Have you tried the satay here? Is it nice?"
She replied, "Oh, I'm the owner."
I said, "Woops.."

Well, the conversation went on with her telling me the satay hailed from Muar and it was a family recipe.

The satay comes in a huge maroon coloured cup. Inside the cup, there is a place to put the satays and a mini section for the satay sauce.

I usually order the set, which comes with 6 sticks of satay and two sticks of ketupat with onions. They have lamb, chicken and beef satay.

The sauce is good. The satay's meat is good and not fatty. I think it is comparable(or maybe even better) to Kajang's satay.

There's also a short background history as to how the Muar satay came about.

Besides satay, they sell cucur udang and other malay kuih muih which I've yet to try.
This is a place I definitely think of whenever I crave for satay and it is nearer for me to go to Pavillion than to Kajang ;)

New Hide out

It is a public holiday today.
I went to KLCC to have a free makeup workshop by Clinique (thanks to FuiWei for giving me the free voucher). It was a worthwhile experience.

But, I shouldn't have made the appointment on a public holiday. Every nook and corner in the mall was crowded with shoppers. I could hardly breathe!

Fortunately, Coffee Club in Kinoluniya came to my mind.
 

The perfect place to 'hide' in KLCC when the mall is overcrowded with people.
 
Sitting at the Coffee Club, the table on my left was eating pasta, while on my right, three people were having soup with a slice of toasted garlic bread - Both meals looked and smelled inviting.
My only regret was going to the Coffee Club after I've eaten Lamb Kyros Kebab at the food court. I couldnt stomach anything else except the cup of hot chocolate....

A "Promise"

I "Promise" to blog consecutively for the next ten days,
given the reason that my christmas break lasts for 10 days,
I also have plans for the next ten days,
which results in more posts piling up
and I'm kinda terribly back-logged already ;)


What happened yesterday?

1) A birthday cake for Alex and Kah Lian .

2) I said "Oh My God"  too loudly in the IMU library when I saw someone I did not expect to see.

3) I was stuck in a one hour traffic outside Midvalley.

4) A 'Tyre punctured' warning appeared on the screen in the car when I just exited KLIA. Good thing it was a BMW. But, it took longer than usual to reach home from KLIA.

5) I had the worst filet-O-fish burger at McD near KLIA.

Monte's at Bangsar Shopping Centre (Round 1)

Dad came home from Beijing. Mum and I picked him from KLIA and headed to Bangsar Shopping Centre because dad had a meeting at House & Co.

While dad was in the meeting, mum introduced me to a restaurant called Monte at BSC.

The ambience was nice and cozy. Tables and chairs set all around the restaurant with a divider filled with green plants at the center of the room. The place was packed. Since we were walk-in customers, the hostess gave us a choice of only three tables to choose from, as the other tables were either occupied or reserved. Therefore, as a memo, make reservations before going to Monte's.

The menu had an array of food - Appetizers, Salad, Pasta, Steak, Lamb, Dessert, Light snacks, Combo Meals, & Drinks

After placing our order with the waiter, we were served buns and butter as starters. The buns were warm and soft, igniting my tastebuds making me yearn for more. Unfortunately, I couldn't ask for more because mum recommended trying Monte's garlic bread.

The garlic bread served was golden, crispy brown thanks to the generous portion of garlic spread and it was perfectly baked overall. Using a knife, I sliced the piece into half, and took a bite. The crunchiness was music to my ears, and as the garlic spread settled on the tongue, it was absolute divine.

Next came the Grilled Prawn and Fish Combo. At first, I expected the prawns served to look measly small, wrinkled, like the ones at Manhattan Fish Market. I was also prepared to set my eyes on just a small portion of the grilled combo, as from recent experiences at other western restaurants, Seafood Combo's portion to money's worth ratio was always one-sided.

Kudos to Monte's Combo. The prawns were huge, the fish was delicious and both grilled to perfection. The combo also came with a cheesy tomato gravy and baked potatoes.

The third and final dish was the Spaghetti Vognile. Monte's has other delicious looking pasta/spaghetti too. The sauce was a tangy spicy sour flavour. They also gave a generous amount of mussels.

I'd definitely recommend going to Monte's for a meal. But of course, the price isn't exactly student friendly. Then again, Monte is definitely a better choice than Chilli's (Both r of the same pricing).

The cuisine was western, but the way it was served, the presentation, the contents/ ingredients differ from other western restaurants. In short, Monte's meals were much more satisfying.
