Thank you!

I was pretty impressed by the talk by Pharmaniaga today.
It was an eye-opening experience.
It was something to ponder on for the next few years of my life.

The past few weeks has been really constructive. Lately, all the people I have met were willing to help me expand my experience and outlook of who I am, and what I will soon become ;)

I do appreciate all that has come my way thus far.

Sherlock Holmes

I'm halfway through watching Sherlock Holmes and I think I can't understand what they are saying most of the time. Their accent is kinda thick till at times, I find myself staring into space!

"Run little rabbit, run!"

Monday

How fast one week has passed. Three more days till the end of March.

On the last day of EOS, there was a last minute talk by the Director of Strathclyde Uni. The EOS ended at 11.30am, but the talk was to be held at 5pm. Thinking that only few of my batchmates will attend, I decided to stay back after lunch to attend the talk. The last pic before the holidays began:

Exactly one week ago, a bunch of my friends arranged a 'Coming over to Ampang' evening session.
It started off with all six of us meeting in Jo Lene's house.
We had rounds of card games while waiting for the after work traffic jam to taper off.

At 7.30pm, the six of us headed out for dinner. First choice was Jimmy and Nong, which was a Thai restuaurant. Unfortunately, that restaurant does not open on Mondays. Therefore, we decided to go to Great Easter Mall to dine at Cozy Corner.

Great Eastern Mall is the only mall I know in KL which has an escalator which goes from ground to 2nd floor, and 2nd to 4th floor. Pretty convenient at times. But, might be a bit too scary to be taken by those afraid of heights. Eg: ChiewVien ;)

In an attempt to see if she could oversome her fear of heights, she tried the 'unusual escalator'. I guess she felt pretty safe on it coz she went down all the way without jittery legs. Kudos, i should say :)

After dinner, we went to Hulu Langat to get a view of the KL city and its surroundings.

Later on, we went back to Jo Lene's crib and the consumption of 'liquid XX' began.
I opted not to drink as I was not sleeping over and I didnt want to risk getting stopped by cops on the road.
It is getting to be a frequent occurence where I opt not to drink becuase I'm usually th eone driving. I even skipped having the margarita I was craving for during Earth Hour outing just because I drove. Oh well, better safe than sorry :)

MunYee and I left the drinking session close to midnight. MarJie, ChiewVien and MayHwa sleptover at JoLene's house. We've been friends for one year and 3 months already!

Earth Hour 2010

Yesterday after the attachment, I met up with four friends of mine at Midvalley.

The plan was to watch Clash of the Titans but it was only coming out on 1st April. Instead of changing the meet-up date again, the next available choice of movie was Daybreakers.
4 Daybreakers tickets bought, but only 3 people watched it coz the fourth person overslept.. lol
Anyway, the movie was not worth it.

After the movie, we headed to Chilli's. Pics are with Eric.*eric, i want the pics please*

After dinner @ Chilli's, LimKian went for his haircut, Eric left to meet up with his other friends, while Terri, Morgan and I headed to Starbucks because Morgan needed his daily dose of caffeine.
After settling down on the sofa, the lights at Starbucks were turned off. I didn't even know it was Earth hour till then.
Starbucks had some free coffee tasting session for everyone, but only Morgan drank coffee.

Basically, we had chit-chat session in the dark.

It was a short meet-up, but I had a nice time with the company :)

Shopped till u drop

Location: Isetan KLCC
Duration: 4 hours 51 minutes
Money spent: RM$$$
Parking fee: RM7.50 (including free 2 hours parking for spending RM$$$)

I would say I practically shopped till I dropped.
Mum and I spent the entire time just browsing and trying on clothes at one shop in Isetan.
It was a good deal though coz Isetan was on SALE!
We shopped till we didn't realise how hungry we were... Had to rush to go find some food to fill our empty stomachs. That was how 'intense' the shopping was;)

A story to tell:
There was this lady who was also shopping in the same shop as mum and I.
I was trying on a dress #1(really loved it) but it didn't fit me.
While I was looking through the clothes, I saw that lady trying on the dress #1.
Then I tried on dress #2, and I didn't like it on me. Then the lady told the sales girl she wanted to try it too.
After choosing and browsing around, I decided to try more clothes since mum was still busy in the dressing room.
The lady was at the counter settling the stuff she bought.
I took the last pile of clothes I wanted to try to the sales person.
Then, the lady said to the sales girl, "I want that dress."
I was like WTH. I was gonna try it on.
And WTH again the sale girl pretended to sort out through my pile and told me the dress was not my size.

And boo, the sales girl passed the dress to that lady and the lady quickly bought the dress without even trying it on.... She also bought dress #1 and #2.

It sort of felt like she stole three of my dresses.
It also felt like I was being bullied.. lol

Anyway, good to know I have taste in clothes till someone else wanna 'steal' all of  it.. lol

Crazy for Pancakes...

....and Perfection.
I wasn't satisfied that I've only
  • managed to make burnt looking pancakes (Attempt #1)
  • and pancakes that didn't taste the way I wanted it to be. (Attempt #2)
Therefore,
I made Attempt #3 today.
PANCAKES FOR LUNCH :):)
Finally, *after all the blood, sweat and tears*
my pancakes were golden brown and tasted good..
Mum ate it and gave it a thumbs up too!

Suffice to say, mission accomplished... I can move on to perfect something else ;)

Pancakes

I have to admit, I am someone who rarely spends time in the kitchen to cook. When I mean cook, I mean stand in front of the stove to whip up something good. I am actually afraid of fire but I'll light a match if I have to, like for the bunsen burner in labs. Hence, when I cook, which I did say I rarely do, it is usually using the oven or microwave *thank goodness for technologies*.

So, what I've been trying to say is that, I only light fire out of desparation....

I WAS CRAVING FOR PANCAKES!

Thus, the need to use the stove coz I love my pancakes to be crispy.

I haven't made pancakes in longest time and here I was, doing it, to satisfy my cravings.

Unfortunately, it didn't really turn out good.
My experiment:
3 pancakes - Fry one with Knifes cooking oil, the second with Mazola oil and the third without oil.

It all looked burnt.

As for the taste, it tasted best with Knifes and really horrible with Mazola, and not crispy and too dry without oil.

But, eventhough it looked burnt, it didnt taste burnt :)

The following day I had a second attempt at making pancakes.
Mum's advice for Attempt #1:
The pancakes looked burnt because my flame was too high.
I should try using butter instead of oil.

I heed mum's advice and tadaaa...

It looked golden brown (for most of it).... heh, but I think using Knife oil still made it crispier.. n of course, more unhealthy :P

Conclusion: I need to practice controlling the fire.
PS: That darkest brown looking pancake was the last pancake. I was too impatient to cook it using low flame XD

Day 15 of CNY @ The final day

Click to read:
Day 1 of CNY
Day 3 of CNY

With a blink of an eye, the final day of CNY has arrived. The past weeks has been pretty hectic..
But, I must give myself a pat on the back because all the hard work sort of paid off. Everything went well from class tests to assignments and to presentation. I'm currently on my study break before EOS begins on 15th March.... There's still tons to revise and  i think I'm gonna be depending on teh tarik or Xi Mut milk tea from Oldtown (I don't drink coffee), to stay awake gobbling every single detail and ensuring it stays in my memory till the 15th!

Well, with the end of CNY, it is also the end of the Winter Olympics.
To end CNY, my family had dinner at Damansara Village at Imbi. The restaurant is owned by Patrick Teoh who is also a blogger, celebrity, ex-radio dj, and my ex-neighbour.
Damansara Village serves steamboat and other variety of chinese dishes.

Outside the restaurant is sort of like a petting zoo. There’s a cage for an iguana, a cage with a tiny monkey inside, a place for little kids to catch tiny fishes, and a place where there were rabbits.

We started off dinner with yee sang. Mum loved the yee sang there as she said it was finely shredded and tasted good. To me, it tasted normal.

Then it was time for the main course.
Chicken wrapped with paper:

Steamed chicken:

Prawns:

Clams:

Sugarcane prawn:

Vege:

Crab:

Steamed fish:

Since my aunt frequent the restaurant, we were given complimentary tong yuen for dessert:

We also had rojak:

The service was good, the atmosphere was nice, the food was good and therefore, I definitely look forward to coming back to try the steamboat.

A family photo to wrap up CNY:

On a sad note, my Canon camera is dying a slow death. Its lense is giving problems, thus my pictures were sometimes blurry. I usually pray hard when I snap a shot, the picture turns out fine. Most of the time since its ailment began its been giving me plenty of shots like this:

Boohoooo :(
